The Berry finds another place to do her art

Ok so today when I thought that the Berry was playing in her play room. She was very quite (which I know that is never a good sign).

The Berry calls out to my and tells me she is going to the toilet which I will then go and help. This is when I find that she has gotten her pens and taken them in to our room and set her self up in front of the mirror to paint a caterpillar on her face.

Her is how the conversation went with her after the discovery
Me: what have you done?
The Berry: painted my face.
Me: that looks awesome what have you painted on your face?
The Berry: A caterpillar. Like Bret did. (we went to a birthday party on Saturday for the daughter of Zoey’ work mate Bret)

Which she is very proud that she had done it

Here are the photos so you can see the great caterpillar

This is how I found where she had done the face painting

Time for some cooking with daddy Domestic.

For my Birthday my Mother-in-law got me this awesome baking cookbook (The Baking Bible). My mother-in-law really knows me and the fact that I love to cook. I have started to put this love of cooking into The Berry and have started to cook with her (this isn’t the first time that I have cooked with her but the first time that I had the thought to blog about it) so her we go.

I started looking through the cookbook and found a two toned biscuit recipe that looked interesting and easy to do with a two and a half year old. We had to start by cutting the butter which The Berry had to go and get her knife and help cut it up, during the cutting process she had to sample the butter which I then found it hard to stop her from eating it and she loves butter. After I let her help with the butter she had to help do every step from adding the egg all the way through to the tasting the dough before it goes into the oven.

I was very impressed with the final result of our work.

Ok I know it has been a long time since I have done a post. Here goes!!!!

Yesterday I made plans with a friend to go to Hervey Bay for the day to show him all of the places that The Berry likes to go and where to take his kids when they come up. eg. picking up shells at Pialba (the place where The Berry has to take anyone that comes to visit us).

I was thinking that The Berry has too many shells as it is and I need to think of thing to do with them, especially since it was inevitable that she would come back with more! We put The Berry to bed last night with promises of a beach trip in the morning.

So when we woke up this morning to find that it was raining, we knew she would be very disappointed.

We went into The Berry’s room to break the news that we couldn’t go to the beach to pick up shells because it was raining. We asked her how she slept and she said, “Fine! I had a good dream!” and when we asked what it was about she said “Picking up shells”. Oh dear. We broke the news very gently.

She took it better than expected, and asked if she could paint instead.

I had a better idea. If we couldn’t pick up shells, we would do craft with them.

So we took ourselves off to the el-cheapo shop and got ourselves some goggly eyes and some pipe-cleaners.

We had a wonderful time creating shell creatures together… and here are our creations. All designed by The Berry and hot-glued by the Papa.

Breakfast with The Berry

The Berry: What's that?

Me: Berry, say butt
Berry: Butt
Me: Er
Berry: Er
Me: Butter
Berry: Blutter
Me: Okay Berry...

THE PROJECT IS COMPLETE. The chook house that the Berry and I have been making was completed by our dead line as we are bring our chickens home on the weekend.

After all the singing and dancing at mainly music, the kids and parents hang around and have some morning tea, the Berry and I always hang back to help clean up. Today the Berry really wanted to help pastor Steve sweep the floor, so he gave her a broom.

We just dropped the Berry off for her first sleep over at her aunty & uncle’s house, so the Mama and I can have a date night. She jam packed her bag with books and toys and then told me I had to carry it because it was “a bit heavy for me!”.

Since we have moved to Maryborough the Berry and I have started a tradition where we walk into town for the Thursday markets, when we get there we share a snow cone and on the walk home the Berry always falls asleep.
